Walking sculpture (In search of sound source)
Interpretation of visual score by Felipe Ehrenberg
2011
Video - sound installation + book
NTSC, 16:9, color, stereo sound
29 minutes 44 seconds loop

"If we accept the definition of sculpture as a The Form that results of giving substance to an occurrence or idea (mental effort) through physical effort, then a walk can be a sculpture". Felipe Ehrenberg

"However, we must learn to judge a society by their noises, their art and their parties rather than their statistics". Jacques Attali

The sounds speak about societies, especially when we get lost in their streets and their activities, evading the monotonous and overwhelming roar of the cars.

This work is an interpretation of the visual score of Felipe Ehrenberg ‘Walking Sculpture / Sculpture Walk’ (1971), randomly walking around the city of Guanajuato (Mexico) for an hour, looking for sound sources that stand from the soundscape during that time. These sources are presented through video, while soundscape captured is playing, mixing both elements. The book includes the visual score, an explanation of the work, the sculpture (form) resulting from the walk and documentation photos by Roberto Barajas.
